Arborétum “La Rivera” a la orilla del Lago de Catemaco.En 6 años éste predio pasó de ser potrero a un museo de árboles. 25 especies diferentes dentro de una hectárea.
	
EL FUTURO DEL PROYECTO
La partida de Don Antonio Azuela Rivera en septiembre de 2017 trajo consigo el reto de no contar más con su liderazgo, pero lejos de ser un riesgo es la oportunidad para continuar con nuevos bríos un proyecto que, como él mismo solía decir, solo puede rendir frutos más allá de las vidas de los miembros y los colaboradores de la Asociación.

Para los próximos años, las prioridades del proyecto consisten en consolidar y ampliar las acciones de restauración emprendidas hasta ahora. Un escenario realista nos indica que es viable duplicar la superficie protegida en los próximos tres años. En general, esto significa pasar de un promedio de 2,500 a 5,000 metros cuadrados alrededor de cada manantial que se encontraban total o parcialmente deforestados. 

El dictamen que redactó la Maestra Julia Carabias Lillo después de una visita de tres días al vivero en noviembre de 2017, ha sido un factor muy estimulante para la comunidad del Vivero, ya que además de aportar ideas novedosas para mejorar nuestro desempeño, nos confirmó la pertinencia ambiental y social de la recuperación de manantiales, donde ya son visibles los resultados de la restauración ecológica.

En forma paralela a la consolidación de los proyectos ya iniciados, se ha decidido incursionar en nuevas líneas, consistentes en la producción de especies nativas para el mercado, lo que no solamente podría a mediano plazo hacer autosuficiente el proyecto en su conjunto, sino sobre todo representaría nuevas oportunidades económicas para las comunidades de la región.
